This novel is one of the works of AphraBehn. This is a fiction novel and it generally speaks about a woman in a dilemma; how true love meets at last and clears all the confusions of life; what importance it is to have people who genuinely care for you. The novel more specifically wins to interpret about the journey of a woman named Bellamore The specialty of Behn was again reflected in it as a twisted dramatic love story, but is entertaining and is loved by many people.

AphraBehn was a very inspiring writer. She was a poet, a translator, a play writer, a royalist and even a spy. Also, she was the first women to be a professional writer in England. At her time, there were only men who were professional writers, so, she had to cope up with many allegations at that time. She stood firm at her work and created marvelous pieces to the public to digest. She then became an inspiration to several women writers to come. She was born in England. Her father was a barber and her mother was a nurse. In her early days, as a youth, she used to work for Charles-2 as a spy. Later, she wrote plays for the Duke’s Theatre and made a living out of it. In the coming years, she then began writing frictions and poetry too. She wrote novels like The Fair Jilt, Agnes de Castro, Love-letters between a Nobleman and his sister, Oroonoko. She also wrote short stories like The history of the Nun, The History of the servant, The lover- boy of Germany, The girl who loved the German boy. Some of the plays written by here were; The Dutch lover(1673), The Town Fop(1676), The Forc’d Marriage(1670), The City Heiress(1681), The Roundheads(1681), etc. She died in 1689 and was buried in Westminister Abbey which is now known as a resting place for famous poets.
Summary:
This novel is about an earnest lady named Bellamora who had escaped from her uncle to meet her cousin who lived 20 miles from Hampshire on the way to London. The novel shares Bellamora’s adventure. After she reaches, she stays at an Inn where the stage-coach was also set up. The story further reveals her visit to the town to meet a lady named Madam Brightly. The book explains the pain and emotions the character has been through. After her mother’s death, the character’s life takes a different turn. The only place she felt secure was that of Madam Brightly. As you read the book you feel certain dramas taking twists and turns. As u read the book you find out that Bellamore was pregnant with the child of a man named Fondlove. The sister of Fondlove who happens to be Bellamore’s friend sends a letter to Fondlove with all the details about Bellamore and their child that she had been carrying. After a few weeks, her belly starts to be visible and in the right time Fondlove finally convinces Bellamore to marry him for the sake of his child. The landlady, the brother-in-law, and her sister helps Fondlove in this scenario.
In this novel, the journey of Bellamore has been described very dramatically and beautifully with details that make you slip into the character’s shoe. The story has many exciting twists and turns which are really exciting for those who have a good appetite for a twisted love story.
